Barça has once again been chosen as the best women's team of the year after winning the Champions League, the F League, the Super Cup and the Queen's Cup
FC Barcelona is the 'lord and master' of women's football worldwide. The Blaugranas reign in this category and, for the second year running, have won the award for best women's club of the year. The Catalans have been recognised with this award after achieving an unprecedented four, lifting the Champions League, the Liga F, the Super Cup and the Copa de la Reina, with 46 victories in 49 matches and more than 200 goals celebrated.
In the last four years, the Catalans have won three Champions Leagues, two of them in a row, as well as reaching five of the last six finals. A European dominance that also extends to Spain, where they have been crowned champions of the last five league championships and have won four of the last five Copa de la Reina.
The words of Joan Laporta y Alexia Putellas
To receive the award, Joan Laporta went up to the stage alongside Alexia Putellas and addressed a few words to Barcelona fans. "Thanks to France Football, it is an honour to receive this award. The players have worked hard to ensure that Barça has the best team in the world. That means commitment to women's rights and freedoms and gender equality. It is our 125th anniversary and this is one of the best gifts for the fans," she said.
Afterwards, Alexia asked for the presence of her teammates who were at the gala, because "it would be very deserved if all the champions who are here went up, because this belongs to the whole team." In Paris, they were accompanied by Aitana Bonmatí, Caroline Graham Hansen, Salma Paralluelo and Patri Guijarro, finalists for the Ballon d'Or, as well as Marta Torrejón. Also Xavi Puig, director of women's football, and the current coach Pere Romeu.
