FC Barcelona will not be able to count on Dani Olmo for any official competition starting January 1st unless they resolve his registration before the end of the year

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona has a serious problem with Dani Olmo's registration in LaLiga. Contrary to what many believed, the mess with Barça's financial Fair Play not only prevents the 26-year-old player from participating in the upcoming matches of the Spanish Primera División. Furthermore, the '20' player will also not be eligible for the rest of the competitions that Barça is participating in this season.

The reason lies in the fact that Barça could only process the federation license for the player from Terrassa until December 31st, just like in the case of Pau Víctor. However, the club only submitted the corresponding documentation for both players' registrations to LaLiga and not to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). Hence, both the former RB Leipzig player and the forward cannot compete in the Copa del Rey or the Supercopa de España until Barça resolves their registrations.

Dani Olmo would also not be able to play in the Champions League with Barça

Similarly, Dani would also not be able to participate in the next two rounds of the Champions League, against Benfica and Atalanta. UEFA processes the registrations of each player through the federations, so, not being registered with the RFEF, the midfielder does not have the license to play. Conversely, if Dani had been registered with the Federation and not with LaLiga, he would only be ineligible to play in the Spanish Primera División.

For Barça, the deadlines are extremely tight to find solutions, as the governing body will close its internal census next Tuesday, just before the winter transfer market opens. The club had the precautionary route to resolve the 'soap opera', but the Commercial Court number 10 of Barcelona ruled against Barça's interests. Now, we can only wait until Monday the 30th, when the Catalan First Instance Court will rule on the other azulgrana lawsuit. Another "no" from the judiciary will force FC Barcelona to pay the money that LaLiga demands to register Olmo and Víctor.
