Lamine Yamal is the only representative of Barça in the IFFHS Team of the Year. The XI includes 5 players from Real Madrid and 3 from Manchester City

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) announced its ideal eleven for 2024 last Friday, December 27. In a team filled with players from Real Madrid, which has five players, Lamine Yamal was the only representative from FC Barcelona.

At just 17 years old, the star from Mataró continues to make history and is considered one of the best 11 footballers of the year that is about to end. His remarkable breakthrough into the first team of Barça, combined with his outstanding performance in the Eurocup won by Spain, provides ample justification for him to receive this recognition.

Real Madrid has 5 representatives

Despite a challenging start to the season, the titles achieved last season allow Madrid to have five players in the IFFHS ideal team, making it the club with the most representatives: Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rüdiger, Toni Kroos, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior.

Manchester City is next with the most members of its squad in the Team of the Year (Rodri, Ruben Dias, and Erling Haaland), while Bayern Munich (Alphonso Davies) and Aston Villa (Emiliano Martínez), like Barça, have one representative each.

Here is the ideal eleven for 2024 from the IFFHS:

  • Emiliano Martínez (ARG/Aston Villa); Dani Carvajal (ESP/Real Madrid), Ruben Dias (POR/Manchester City), Antonio Rudiger (GER/Real Madrid), Alphonso Davies (CAN/Bayern Munich); Rodri Hernández (ESP/Manchester City), Jude Bellingham (ENG/Real Madrid), Toni Kroos (GER/Real Madrid); Lamine Yamal (ESP/FC Barcelona), Erling Haaland (NOR/Manchester City), and Vinicius Junior (BRA/Real Madrid).
