Controversy served: The VAR commanded to repeat a penalti and Saúl beat Ter Stegen

Everything began with Arturo Vidal. The Chilean midfield player committed to the chamber of hour of party a penalti innocent on Carrasco, when demolishing to the attacker 'colchonero' with a 'patadita' that anybody protested. The case is that Hernández Hernández, warned by Mateu Lahoz from the VAR, commanded to repeat the penalti for incomprensión total of the players of the FC Barcelona.

The repetition justified the decision of the referees: Ter Stegen had both slightly advanced feet, without stepping the line of goal, just before jumping to detain the penalti of Diego Coast. The norm says that at least one of the two feet has to step the line during the launching, so the penalti had to repeat and this time was Saúl Ñíguez the one who took the chevrons. The Spanish midfield player did not fail and the goal went up to the marker.

Taking into account that the played is very pitada, the controversy roots in the norm in himself. And it is that they are not few those who consider that it treats of an unfair norm for the goalkeepers, that already have the sufficiently complicated stop a penalti in normal conditions. The same analyst of 'Movistar', Gerard López, gave his opinion during the transmission of the party: "it Is a norm that penalises too much to the guardametas", ensured, positioning with other players like Santi Cañizares, also analyst of the quoted television chain.

Too much penalty for the goalkeeper

In this sense, Gerard López proposed something that perhaps would be juster: that the VAR analysed this type of actions, but sanctioning only those in which the goalkeeper advance of flagrant form. In the case of Ter Stegen, the German had the heel advanced so only some centimetres, or can that neither this, after analysing all the takings of the played.

It was as it was, the regulation is as it is and, with him in the hand, can not protest the decision of Hernández Hernández and of his homónimo in the VAR, Mateu Lahoz. The penalti repeated properly and, in this occasion, Ter Stegen could not detain it. The ideal, in any case, would be that they valued so to the detail this type of played in all the parties.
