Dani Olmo opened up in Barça One about his goals for the upcoming year with FC Barcelona, as well as the reasons why he decided to return to the club a decade later
The name Dani Olmo is one of the most talked about in the FC Barcelona environment these days. The confusion regarding his registration for the second half of the season has kept the Barça board busy just before the end of the year. In principle, the club hopes to resolve the discrepancies with LaLiga this week, through legal means. Meanwhile, the attacking midfielder is enjoying, along with the rest of the squad, his Christmas holidays with the hope of starting a successful 2025 in the blaugrana jersey.
In an interview for Barça One, the Terrassa native dismissed any doubts about his future as a culé, although a delay in his registration would give him the option to terminate his contract in January. For Dani, although 2024 has been a "very special" year after winning the Eurocup with Spain and returning to Barcelona, "there is still much to do" for 2025. At 26 years old, Dani is experiencing the best moment of his career, despite some physical issues that have affected his performance in recent months.
In that sense, the '20' made it clear his main dream as a footballer for the year that begins next week. "I want to win titles with Barça. Being able to play at Spotify Camp Nou with players like Frenkie, Robert, or Ronald... we have a great team and we hope to bring a lot of joy to our fans," Olmo commented, who also hopes to continue lifting trophies with the National Team.
Olmo Opens Up About His Signing for Barça and His Relationship with Hansi Flick
On the other hand, the Barça academy graduate did not hesitate to clarify the reasons why he chose to sign with Barça, dismissing much more attractive offers from clubs like Bayern Munich, which had been tempting him for a couple of years after his great stint at RB Leipzig. "There were other options, but when Barça appeared with this initiative, I didn't hesitate. Returning home, and with my family and friends, was a dream and now I can make it a reality," he explained.
Moreover, he admitted the weight that sharing a locker room with several of his best friends in the National Team, like Fermín or Gavi, had in his decision, whom he has known since childhood. And regarding Hansi Flick, the Terrassa native also revealed how important his call was to finally convince him to return to Barcelona a decade after his departure to Dinamo Zagreb, "a brave step" in his career, but one that never took him away from his desire to return to the club.
"(Flick) knows me perfectly from the Bundesliga because we faced each other there. Wherever I play and wherever I am, I will always try to give my best," Dani pointed out. The full interview is available exclusively for users of Barça One, the club's official streaming platform, known by many as the 'culé Netflix'.
