FC Barcelona has managed to turn Montjuïc into a true fortress. After a very difficult first year away from the Spotify Camp Nou, the team has significantly improved its performance under Hansi Flick. With the victory against Espanyol (3-1), there are seven consecutive victories for the Barça team at home.
Flick's Barça streak at home began on August 24, on matchday 2 of LaLiga. The culés defeated Athletic Club (2-1) with goals from Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, in a match marked by the presence of Nico Williams, the club's big failed signing in the summer.
On matchday 4, it was their turn to host Valladolid and the team began to display offensive power that, for the moment, does not stop. The Pucelano team suffered a historic rout (7-0) in which Raphinha (hat-trick), Robert Lewandowski (double), Jules Koundé, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres scored.
Goleadas, a custom for Barça in Montjuïc
Barça spent almost a month on the road until, on September 25, it was their turn to host Getafe for matchday 7 of LaLiga. A goal from Robert Lewandowski in the 19th minute was enough to leave the 3 points at home (1-0) against the 'blue' team.
On October 1, the team recovered from its first loss in the League (4-2 against Osasuna) with another win in Montjuïc, this time in the Champions League against Young Boys (5-1). Lewandowski (double), Raphinha, Iñigo Martínez and an own goal from Ali Camara sealed the first European victory of the season for the culés.
After the break we had to host Sevilla and the Catalan fans enjoyed another 'little hand' (5-1). The doubles from 'Lewy' and Pablo Torre, in addition to a great goal from Pedri, resolved a match that opened the door to a key week for the team.
Three days later it was the turn of Bayern Munich, the culé 'black beast' in recent seasons. A hat-trick from Raphinha and another goal from Lewandowski buried the ghosts against the Bavarians (4-1). The seventh and last home victory came this Sunday, again with Rapha on the list of scorers, accompanied by a stellar Dani Olmo, with a double.
Barça, the best venue in Europe by far
The seven victories in a row for Flick's Barça in Montjuïc have no comparison this season in the major European leagues. In the Premier League, Liverpool, leader of the tournament with 25 points after 8 rounds, has left very good records at Anfield so far. However, the Reds lost to Nottingham Forest on September 14 (0-1).
Bayern Munich, for its part, has also started very well in the Bundesliga, but had a puncture at the Allianz Arena against Bayer Leverkusen (1-1) on September 28. In Italy, Napoli came with an overwhelming pace, but this weekend they fell with a crash against Atalante at the Diego Armando Maradona (0-3).
And, in France, the undisputed leader of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain, also left points at home in the Champions League, against PSV Eindhoven (1-1). Other clubs that are usually almost invincible at home, such as Manchester City (2 draws), Inter Milan (1 draw) and Real Madrid (the loss in the Clásico) have also lost points at home in 2024/25.
