FC Barcelona Femení beat St. Pölten in Austria on Thursday (1-4). Kika Nazareth (double), Vicky López and Alexia Putella scored in the third Champions League victory for the Catalans

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona reached 9 points after 4 rounds of the UEFA Women's Champions League thanks to another comfortable victory against SKN St. Pölten of Austria (1-4). Pere Romeu's team, once again, came out on top and managed to finish off the match in the first half hour thanks to a double from Francisca Nazareth and another from Vicky López, as well as a historic goal from Alexia Putellas.

The Portuguese attacker made the most of her presence in the Barça XI and was the undisputed MVP of the match played in Vienna. In addition to her two goals, 'Kika' rounded off the rout with an assist to Alexia Putellas in the second half. The home team immediately reduced the deficit after the goal from the Ballon d'Or winner, but the match had already been decided for a while.

For the '11' culé, her goal in the second half meant reaching 200 goals with the Barça shirt, thus extending her lead as the club's all-time top scorer. Alexia scored her first official goal in her debut season, 2012/13. Three years later, in 2015/16, she reached 50 goals and, in 2018/19, she would reach 100 goals. Later, in 2021/22, she added her 150th goal.

Kika and Vicky led Barça Femení to another comfortable victory

Barça threatened the opposition's area with two corners in the first quarter of an hour. Although St. Pölten started very well organized, with the lines a little higher than expected, their resistance collapsed after Nazareth scored 0-1 in the 21st minute. Kika got ahead of Dubcova and finished easily in front of Schlüter, taking advantage of the home defender's error in coming out.

Without giving the Austrians time to react, Barça extended their lead in the 29th minute, with the Portuguese forwards again wreaking havoc on the opposition's defense. A run by Brugts on the left allowed the Barça player to filter the 'pass of death' so that Francisca appeared on the edge of the area, unmarked, to finish with a half-turn and a low shot.

Two minutes later the third would come, the work of Vicky López. Barça's high pressure allowed the Barça midfielder to recover the ball and, after a good collective play in which Kika and Patri Guijarro participated, the Barça '19' took advantage of Patri's back-heel to beat Schlüter in the one-on-one.

Alexia closed the scoring with a historic goal

St. Pölten made three changes after the break, but it was Barça who once again made the difference on the scoreboard. In the 59th minute, Alexia played a one-two with Kika Nazareth that allowed her to get into the box, leave an opponent on the ground after a feint of 'crack' and finish against a once again powerless Schlüter.

The home team pulled one back a couple of minutes later, a goal that did not change the dynamic of the match too much. For Putellas, that is 200 goals in 439 official matches. The 30-year-old forward has won 26 official titles with Barça, including 8 Leagues and 3 Champions Leagues. In addition, the Mollet del Vallès native is the third highest Barça scorer in history, only surpassed by Leo Messi (672) and César Rodríguez (232).
