A total of eight FC Barcelona players traveled with their national teams during the November break. At FCBN we review how the Barcelona internationals have fared
FC Barcelona is enjoying a weekend of rest this Sunday where eight players from the squad are still in action with their national teams. Dani Olmo, Marc Casadó, Pedri González and Pau Cubarsí traveled with the National Team, while Pablo Torre did the same with the Spanish U-21. Jules Koundé and Frenkie de Jong did the same with France and the Netherlands, while Raphinha, again, made the longest trip to play with Brazil.
Of the eight Barcelona internationals called up, the only one who has not had minutes so far is Pau Cubarsí. Luis de la Fuente did not count on him for the visit to Denmark (1-2) so as not to interfere in the healing process of his cut on his right cheek. Casadó and Pedri, for their part, played 20 minutes and 10 minutes on Danish ground, respectively. For Marc, it was his official debut with La Roja.
Koundé and Dani Olmo continue to shine
For now, the one who has left the best feelings during the break is Dani Olmo. On Saturday, the man from Terrassa excelled for Spain against Denmark (1-2), leading La Roja's midfield with an assist to Ayoze Pérez that earned the three points in Copenhagen. The midfielder played 70 minutes, being the best on the National Team.
Jules Koundé was also a starter and played the 90 minutes against Israel (0-0), a rather gray duel in a semi-empty Saint Denis where the defender once again completed a good game as a right back.
Contrasting realities for Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong
Barça's scorers had mixed luck in their first international matches of November. Raphinha excelled with a great goal from a free kick against Venezuela (1-1), in a highly contested match that ended with a bittersweet draw for the 'scratch'. Frenkie de Jong had less luck, who despite starting against Hungary with the Netherlands (4-0) made it clear that he is not yet physically fit to start.
Robert Lewandowski had also been called up by Poland for the matches against Portugal and Scotland, but finally stayed in Barcelona to treat a back ailment. Without their captain, the Poles were defeated by the Portuguese (5-1).
Pablo Torre added minutes with the U-21
In the case of Pablo Torre, the Cantabrian played 27 minutes with the Spain U-21 against England (0-0). The midfielder entered in the 63rd minute for Gabri Veiga in the duel played in Cádiz. The 21-year-old player's next opportunity with Santi Denia's team will be next Tuesday in Albacete, against Denmark.
Barça also had Héctor Fort among those called up for the November break. However, the full-back did not travel with the La Roja U-19 due to sacrum discomfort that also left him out of the squad against Real Sociedad.
