Real Madrid fell for the first time in LaLiga since their defeat on matchday 6 of last season against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano (3-1). In total, the 'merengues' had gone 42 days without losing and, on Saturday, they were crushed by FC Barcelona (0-4) in a duel that the culés resolved with authority in the complement.

Robert Lewandowski, with a double, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha scored for an infinitely superior Barça in the final 45 minutes. The entry of Frenkie de Jong for Fermín López gave more ease to the Barça game, with Pedri closer to the area.

In the end, the spaces in the white background appeared and the Barça offensive trident did not forgive a Madrid totally broken in the background. The difference could have been even greater, if not for a couple of wasted opportunities by 'Lewy'. However, the result was fair, based on the performance and timeliness of both teams.

Barça preserves its record of unbeaten days in LaLiga

With the defeat, Madrid was just one game away from equaling the absolute record for matches without losing in the League, held by Barcelona since 2018. The culés went 43 matches without losing between the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons with Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde on the bench.

The culé streak began in April 2017 and ended in May 2018. The 'merengues', for their part, had not fallen since September 2023. Furthermore, the victory at the Bernabéu allows Barça to move 6 points away from the lead in LaLiga and put an end to a streak of two consecutive seasons without winning in Chamartín.

Curiously, Barça's last League victory at the Bernabéu was also by the same score as Saturday (0-4). It was on March 20, 2022, with Xavi Hernández on the bench. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2), Ronald Araújo and Ferran Torres scored that day for the Barça team.
