FC Barcelona and Real Madrid arrive at the first Clásico of the season with several important casualties. At FCBN we review how the infirmaries of culés and 'merengues' are

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will play this Saturday (9:00 p.m. CEST) in the first Liga Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu without several important names available for the clash. Both teams have accumulated ten casualties, in the case of Barça two of them long-term, fixed discards for the rest of 2024/25.

The culés lost Marc Bernal in August, who suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus in his left knee in Vallecas against Rayo, meaning he will be out until the start of the 2025 preseason.

In September, it was Marc-André ter Stegen who fell. The Barça captain suffered a complete rupture of the patellar tendon in his right knee against Villarreal and, although he could reappear in the final stretch of the season (in March or April), it is most likely that the club will wait until the summer to give him filming.

Barça will add another casualty at the Santiago Bernabéu

The German and the Catalan join Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen, who continue working to overcome the injuries they suffered during the summer. The 'Charrúa' would be ready to return in mid-November after damaging the hamstring tendon in his right leg during the Copa América.

For his part, the Dane still does not have a return date due to the tendinopathy in his left Achilles heel that he has been carrying since the Euro Cup. The other sure casualty for Saturday is Ferran Torres, who will miss two months of action due to a problem in the hamstring of his right thigh. The '7' was injured in Vitoria and would reappear the first week of December.

Furthermore, Barça would not have Eric García in Chamartín either. The defender converted into a pivot has not been able to overcome the discomfort in his right abductor that prevented him from playing against Sevilla and Bayern, so it is almost certain that he will not be included in the squad for the Classic either.

Madrid will arrive without three starters to the first Clásico of the season

Likewise, Carlo Ancelotti has also added a couple of key casualties this week ahead of the first Clásico of the season. Thibaut Courtois and Rodrygo Goes will watch Saturday's duel in the boxes at the Santiago Bernabéu, as both will be out for around three weeks due to muscle problems.

The Belgian and the Brazilian join Dani Carvajal as the three starters ruled out to face Barça. The full-back broke his right knee against Villarreal and will miss the entire season. The other one who still hasn't left the white infirmary is David Alaba.

The Austrian defender has not progressed well at all from the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and there has even been speculation about a possible retirement, since his estimated time out was 8 to 9 months and he is already going for 10 months without even having started work on the grass.
