Tebas: "We consider that LaLiga can return on 29th May or 6th June"

The president of LaLiga, Javier Thebes, has answered to the questions of the foreign press by telematic road, keeping that it does not contemplate to day of today that it can suspend definitively LaLiga, when being an option that only sees in his "nightmares", but no when it is awake. In a meeting collected by 'The Gazzetta dello Sport', has valued the current and future situation of the Spanish football in relation to the coronavirus.

In the first place, it has established the possible dates of return so much of LaLiga as of the Champions League. "We are considering the idea to go back to play, in Spain and other European countries, on 29 May or, alternatively, on 6 June or on 28 June. If we begin the 29 May of LaLiga, the Champions would go in July. If we begin the 6 June, would play all the together competitions until 31 July", has desvelado.

"And if we begin on 28 June, July would be for LaLiga and August for the Champions. With these dates, obviously, there is time to begin to train again respecting the protocol of resumption of the activity that have designed for LaLiga. For the end of the season would not want to go further of the month of August, and is obvious that all this will affect the calendar of the next season", has added the maximum mandator of the Spanish football.

Regarding the possibility to cancel the season 2019-20, for now is something that does not contemplate in the real life, when having a lot of weeks by in front so that the crisis of the coronavirus amaine. "This is something that only appears me when I sleep, in shape of nightmare. When I am awake, never goes through me the mind. In the sport, neither in Spain neither in Europe thought this hypothesis because there are weeks before it can suceder".

"Only we will think it when we no longer can play", it warns, by what keeps optimistic and thinks that those who speak to suspend the competition is because have particular interests in this. "Today it is a barren debate that only generates conflicts of interests, as it is sucediendo in other countries. Casually, what do not want to play are the last in the classification or those that struggle by not descending. Any big or average League has to begin this debate now. Because it is clear that derives of other types of interests".

Thebes has analysed also in which measure would remain damaged economically the Spanish football, in function of if it restarts or no the championship. "Not finishing the season would bring a quantifiable loss in billion of euros. If we finish to enclosed door, the economic damage will be of 350 million euros. If we could play with the public, the losses would keep on being of 150 million euros. Regarding the rights of TV in League, collect 90% of the total. If we no longer have to play, in addition to renouncing to 10% faltante, would have to give back 18% of what already have collected", has desvelado.

It is not adherent to change the formats established

And it understands that it has to avoid the change of format in the competitions to be able to compress better the calendar, since of if it did would lose a lot of money. "This is something that has to avoid. Because so much to national level like international have sold our leagues and the Champions to more than 100 televisions in the world. We sold them with this format, with this number of teams and this number of games. Change the structure of the competition would force to rewrite cientos of agreements. In my opinion, change of format is very risky".

Javier Thebes, in definite, shows optimist for now with the return of the football and will not value a hypothetical definite suspension until there is not more remedy. Like the rest of the citizenship, will remain slope of the daily evolution of the pandemia and of the decisions of the government.
