Robert Lewandowski continues to increase his history as a scorer with the Polish national team, since the Pole, with his goal against Scotland, not only further consolidates himself as the top international scorer for his country, but has also equaled a historical record in terms of goals at national team level: Ferenc Puskás

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Robert Lewandowski continues to show signs that the 2024/25 season could be one of his best in terms of goalscoring. Why? Well, the Polish 'number 9', at 36 years of age, has proven that he is still going strong with a sharp 'killer' instinct, scoring goals in all shapes and colors, both with FC Barcelona and the Polish national team.

So far, the Warsaw native has accumulated five goals in five matches played in this 2024/25 season. Four of them were scored in the FC Barcelona shirt (two against Valencia CF, one against Athletic Club, and another against Real Valladolid), and one more with his national team. He scored the latter on Thursday, September 5th, by converting a penalty to make it 0-2 in the match between the Polish team and Scotland (2-3), valid for Matchday 1 of the 2024/25 Nations League, where he was also instrumental in assisting Sebastian Szymański to score the opening goal for Michał Probierz's team.

In this regard, it is important to highlight how significant this goal has been for 'Lewy'. Besides maintaining his stellar scoring pace, he has further expanded his historic records in international football. With this goal, number 84 in 152 appearances for Poland, the sharpshooter has not only solidified his position as the all-time leading scorer for his national team, surpassing his closest pursuer, Włodzimierz Lubański (43 goals), but also achieved another remarkable milestone.

What record did Robert Lewandowski break with Poland?

Lewandowski now shares the eighth spot in the all-time international goal scorers list alongside an elite scorer like the Hungarian Ferenc Puskás (84 goals in 89 matches) and is one step away from the seventh position in this ranking. That position is shared by Romelu Lukaku (85 goals in 119 games for Belgium) and Ali Mabkhout (85 goals for the United Arab Emirates in 114 matches).
