Lionel Messi has added another trophy to his trophy cabinet. After a tremendous individual season with Inter Miami, the Argentine star was awarded the 'Landon Donovan' award, the Major League Soccer Most Valuable Player for 2024.

The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner led the Herons to their first Supporters' Shield title, breaking the MLS single-season points record with 74 points. He also led the league with 36 goal contributions (20 goals and 16 assists) despite playing just 1,485 minutes spread across 19 games, averaging a record 2.18 goal contributions per 90 minutes.

Messi continues to build his legend

With Messi on the field, the Florida team barely lost a single regular season match, recording 12 wins, 6 draws and 1 loss with an average of 2.68 goals scored per game, leading the team then managed by 'Tata' Martino to become the first team to record at least 11 home and away wins.

With this award, Messi became the fifth Argentine to be chosen as the MVP of the regular season and the first Inter Miami player to receive this recognition. A new milestone for the career of the best player of all time.
