Pedri González spoke about the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor ahead of the Supercopa de España final. The midfielder denied rumors about a possible strike against the National Team
Pedri González did not shy away from the topic of the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor during the press conference prior to the Supercopa de España final against Real Madrid. Although, in principle, the '8' culé avoided commenting on the case, he did take the opportunity to refer to the controversy linked to a possible strike by Barça internationals against the National Team stemming from the 'soap opera' with LaLiga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
"It was said that the players of Spain would not go to the National Team if Dani Olmo could not play, but that is a lie that I hope no one believes because I love playing with the National Team", said the player from Tegueste, who also reiterated that he usually does not pay attention to media rumors, as his only wish and that of the rest of the group was for both to be able to play and to try to encourage them while the case was being resolved.
"We players have to focus on our work, that’s what we are paid for. Tomorrow is an opportunity to help the club and for everything to return to normal", added Pedri. Likewise, the '8' reiterated that, beyond statistics, for him the most important thing is collective work and, regarding his position on the field, being able to help the team, whether closer to the area or with more contact with the ball.
Pedri asks to focus on the possibility of winning another title
Regarding the Clásico in Arabia, the Tenerife native also reiterated that, beyond the noise related to other issues, the team must focus exclusively on the Supercopa final. "We have to focus more on the match than on what is outside. I see the locker room motivated, eager to play a final. A title at stake against Madrid motivates anyone, looking forward to tomorrow", explained the midfielder.
In that sense, Pedri believes it will be very difficult to repeat the thrashing from the last Clásico, but he trusts Hansi Flick's plan to secure victory. "They want revenge and they have said so; we have to dominate, control the game, create chances, and watch out that they don’t hurt us on the counterattacks because they are very strong in that", argued the '8', while dismissing any advantage for the 'merengues' due to having more support in the stands of the final stadium. "The truth is I don’t care what’s outside; I think in our match in the 'semi' they supported us a lot".
