FC Barcelona would have planned to make a big change for the 2025-26 preseason. What would be this novelty to introduce? We tell you about it at FCBN
The FC Barcelona, despite being in the midst of the 2024-25 season and actively competing for the top spot in both LaLiga EA Sports and the UEFA Champions League, is already making preparations for the 2025-26 season. Specifically, details are being finalized for the upcoming pre-season tour of the club, which promises to bring a significant surprise.
As reported by 'Catalunya Radio,' the pre-season tour of FC Barcelona for the 2025-26 season will not take place in the United States, as has been the custom in previous seasons, including the start of the 2024-25 period, as well as in 2023-24 and 2022-23, where the Barcelona team conducted their pre-season in American soil. This time, the pre-season tour will focus on Asian territory.
It is worth noting that Barcelona has not toured Asia since the 2019-20 season, when they participated in the Rakuten Cup, playing two friendly matches: one against Chelsea, which they lost 1-2, and another against Vissel Kobe, which they won 0-2.
Furthermore, it should be highlighted that this was not the last time that Barcelona visited Asia, as in 2023, they did so, but not as part of a tour, but for a specific match at the end of the 2022-23 season against Vissel Kobe in tribute to Andrés Iniesta, which also ended with a 0-2 scoreline.
Why is FC Barcelona returning to conduct a pre-season tour in Asian territory?
Now, given the apparent success of tours in the United States, why would Barcelona return to Asia? Sources assert that this change is due to the fact that during the months of June and July, when the traditional pre-season of the club takes place, the United States will be hosting the new FIFA Club World Cup, which will run from June 14 to July 13, with the participation of several top teams.
Under this premise, Barcelona plans to re-enter the Asian market by embarking on a new tour of those nations, as they used to do in the past, with the aim of not neglecting the fans in that part of the world. Although the country where it will take place and the opponents are yet to be decided, at least the idea seems to be already in motion. Will it be a success?
