Cristiano Ronaldo's days in the sport of his dreams are numbered. In a new interview, the Portuguese striker revealed details of his present and future in football, as well as the date of his possible retirement

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world. After having won practically everything, he is now living a different stage of his career at 39 years old with Al-Nassr, where he has continued to score goals, but a little further away from the media spotlight and the demands that exist in the major leagues in Europe.

However, time passes and everyone eventually reaches retirement age, even the greatest. His level is no longer the same as he showed in teams like Manchester United or Real Madrid, but he remains a leader in his national team, where he had a modest performance at Euro 2024 with Portugal. Despite the challenges, CR7 believes he still has a lot to contribute to football.

Cristiano Ronaldo reveals his retirement date

In an interview with Portugal's 'Now' channel, Cristiano spoke about his immediate future, which is in Saudi Arabian football: "I'm very happy at this club and I feel very good in this country. I'm happy to play in Saudi Arabia and I want to continue here," said the Portuguese, who last season scored 44 goals and 13 assists in 45 games. This season he has already scored three goals and provided an assist in three games.

When asked about a possible retirement, 'CR7' said the following: "I don't know if I'll retire soon, in two or three years. But most likely I'll do it here at Al-Nassr." With these words it seems clear that he will extend his contract in the Saudi Pro League, since his current commitment ends on June 30, 2025.

Although he does not have a clear date to end his career, Cristiano knows that his future as a former footballer will be far from the bench. "It's hard to think that I'll be a coach one day. I don't have the idea of being the coach of any football team in mind, I don't even think about it. I see myself doing other things outside of football, but only God knows the future." Let's remember that the Portuguese has several businesses outside of sport such as a hotel chain, a gym chain, a porcelain brand, video games and even a clothing collection. At the moment, another project that fills him with excitement is his YouTube channel, which has more than 50 million subscribers just a week after having created it.

Will Cristiano say goodbye to the Portugal national team?

Finally, he spoke about another key aspect of his career and that is his work with the Portugal national team, which he doesn't plan to leave right now. "When I leave the national team, I won't tell anyone in advance and it will be a very spontaneous decision on my part. But also very thoughtful," he said. For this reason, he hopes to be part of Roberto Martínez's squad for the Nations League matches against Croatia and Scotland.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to continue contributing to his national team in this important competition, which he won in 2019: “Right now, what I want is to be able to help the national team in their next commitments. We have the Nations League ahead of us and I would really like to play.” Portugal will host Croatia at the Estadio da Luz on 5 September and will once again host Scotland on 8 September.
