FC Barcelona sees Ronald Araújo's return to action getting closer and closer. In this sense, the amount of compensation that FIFA must pay the club for the Uruguayan's injury will finally be known

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The return of Ronald Araújo to action with FC Barcelona is getting closer to happening. The Uruguayan defender, who was injured on July 7 in a Copa América match between the Uruguayan national team and Brazil (rupture in the right hamstring tendon), has been seen in images released by the club on its social networks training individually with very good intensity, showing an impeccable physique and leaving the clear feeling that his return to the group is imminent.

In this regard, in addition to the good news that represents the return of Ronald Araújo to the team, Barcelona must consider the economic benefit that will be obtained once the native of Rivera receives medical clearance. It is important to remember that, according to FIFA's regulations, when a player is seriously injured in an international competition match with their national team, the Club Protection Program is applied, which seeks to compensate teams after the player has been injured for a period of 28 consecutive days.

After those 28 days, €20,548 are paid per day. What does this mean? Extrapolating this case to that of Ronald Araújo, who as mentioned earlier was injured on July 7, from August 4 onwards he has begun to receive this payment of €20,548 per day. Considering that many days have passed and that Araújo has not yet been able to play in this 2024-25 season, it is expected that Barcelona may receive a good compensation for this matter.

The compensation that FIFA should give Barcelona for the injury of Ronald Araújo

Initially, the most optimistic forecast of FC Barcelona was to possibly have Araújo available for the match against Celta de Vigo (11/23), meaning that Ronald's days of inactivity would be halted at that point, adding up to a total of 111 days off. This would result in compensation of €2,280,828 for the Catalan team.

Another scenario, involving his return in the UEFA Champions League match against Stade Brestois (11/26), would mean a total of 114 days of inactivity and compensation for Barcelona of €2,342,472. Now, being a bit more conservative, if it does not happen in those aforementioned matches, there are more conservative sources that also indicate that his return, at most, could take place in the match against CD Leganés (12/15), in which case 133 days will have passed, meaning that the Catalan club would end up receiving around €2,732,884.
