FC Barcelona escaped a real fiasco with Arda Güler. The Barça team had closed an agreement with Fenerbahce to sign the Turkish midfielder last year, but Real Madrid went ahead of the Catalans by paying 20 million euros net plus 8 million in variables.

Surprisingly, the operation between Barça and Fenerbahce fell through due to the player's decision, since his priority was to make the jump to a big player in the summer of 2023. The culés, on the other hand, preferred to give him one more year of filming in the league Turkish before it landed in Spain.

In the end, time has proven the culé board right, since Güler has barely counted for Carlo Ancelotti until now. As soon as he arrived in Valdebebas, the then 18-year-old player injured his right meniscus, which is why he missed the entire first half of the season.

In 2024/25, Arda has left his physical problems behind after having a good Euro Cup in Germany, but his situation in the Spanish capital has worsened. At the moment, he has barely accumulated 292 minutes in 11 appearances, with three starts in LaLiga and only 11 minutes played in the last five games in the 'White House'.

Carlo Ancelotti 'passes' on Arda Güler during Real Madrid crisis

In that sense, Ancelotti seems to have completely forgotten about both the Turk and Endrick Felipe in recent weeks. Despite Madrid's crisis, the Italian coach has insisted on betting on the 'sacred cows' to try to reverse the poor 'merengue' play.

In this regard, 'Carletto' himself referred to the few opportunities that Güler and the Brazilian forward have had. According to the Italian coach, both are ready to play and they show it in every training session. However, he assured that "the objective is to move this forward, it is the priority. Not to give more minutes to a certain player."

Thus, everything indicates that Arda will continue to accumulate minutes on the Madrid bench, while the coaching staff is betting on the explosion of players like Kylian Mbappé, Rodrygo Goes or Jude Bellingham, all three in the middle of a sharp downturn of which, for now , they look far from being able to leave.
