FC Barcelona hopes to finally part ways with Clément Lenglet in 2025. The center-back has been important for Atlético de Madrid this season, and the Catalans have already set his selling price
The FC Barcelona board is clear about the price it will ask for Clément Lenglet in 2025. If the center-back continues to be important for Diego Simeone at Atlético de Madrid, the Blaugrana team hopes to earn around 15 million euros from the transfer of the French international, who renewed last summer before going on loan to the 'colchoneros' to readjust his high salary.
Until the 2023/24 season, Lenglet earned 16 million gross per year (12M€ in salary plus 4M€ in amortization), a salary that closed the doors for him at Tottenham and Aston Villa despite leaving a good impression at both clubs. After extending his contract for another year, until 2027, Clément now earns 10.6 million gross per season, an amount that, in the 2024/25 season, is mostly covered by Atlético.
Lenglet begins to increase in value with Atlético de Madrid
The player from Beauvais started the season on the bench, causing his market value to plummet to 5M€ at the beginning of October. That month, the injury of Robin Le Normand allowed him to start getting minutes, and he has now played seven consecutive league matches as a starter with the 'rojiblancos'. In total, the center-back has scored a couple of goals in 13 matches (1,061 minutes across all competitions). Thanks to this, his valuation on the 'Transfermarkt' website increased by 2.5M€.
In this sense, Barça hopes that Lenglet will have a great season with Atlético, making it much more feasible to finalize his permanent transfer, whether to the 'colchonero' team or to another 'heavyweight' in Europe. The Frenchman will turn 30 in June and has been tempted a couple of times by the Arab league. However, the player prioritizes continuing to play at the elite level, as he believes he still has much to prove both at the club level and with the national team.
