Barring a major surprise, Mohamed Salah will not play for FC Barcelona in 2025. The Barça team could go for the Egyptian in the next summer market, taking advantage of the fact that the 32-year-old player ends his contract with Liverpool in June. However, the board considers that, if they go for a player with his characteristics next year, the ideal is to incorporate a left-footed winger or a center forward.
Barça's confidence in Lamine, key to ruling out Salah
In principle, Barça's decision lies in its long-term commitment to Lamine Yamal. The '19' is called to be the owner of the right side of the Barça attack in the next decade and, beyond the dizzying offers that may arrive for the one from Mataró (the last one, from PSG, for 250 million euros), the board will refer to the payment of his termination clause (1,000 'kilos') as the only way to let him go.
Although Salah can play as a midfielder or false '9', he feels much more comfortable lying on the right, where he would inevitably end up colliding with Lamine. In addition, Barça has Raphinha in the long term, another striker who tends to lean a lot towards the right wing. After Real Madrid's fiasco with Kylian Mbappé (who ended up getting in the way of Vinicius Jr.), the culés are more than clear about not wasting money on non-priority signings and contracts.
Al-Nassr will go for Mohamed Salah next summer
Outside of England, the club that, at the moment, shows the greatest interest in the 32-year-old striker is Al-Nassr. Cristiano Ronaldo's team has not managed to win any major title since the arrival of the Portuguese and would be willing to offer the Egyptian a mega contract to complete a lethal attacking trident alongside 'CR7' and Sadio Mané, with whom Salah won the Champions League in 2019 with the 'reds'.
However, Liverpool have not yet given up on their star and will soon present a new contract that ensures the continuity of the '11' for three more seasons. 'Mo' will turn 33 in June 2025, which could practically ensure his retirement in the elite with the Merseyside team if he decides to accept the offer.
