The FC Barcelona board is considering a star signing next summer to strengthen their attack. Whatever the new culé 'crack' may be, Nike's sponsorship will be key

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona and Nike sealed an alliance last month that could redefine sports sponsorship for the future. Beyond the fixed millions that the club will earn annually for continuing to wear jerseys made by the American multinational, Barça expects to generate multiple additional benefits each season from each of its stars linked to the swoosh brand.

In this sense, the board hopes to finalize the signing of a 'top' forward next summer, and much will depend on each player's relationship with Nike who is on the culé radar. If Joan Laporta and Deco are looking at a 'killer', it would be ideal for it to be a player who is also a face of the brand that dresses the club. This way, Barça can amortize part of each contract and also receive extra income from image rights.

Barça leans towards 'cracks' from the 'Nike team'

Thus, forwards of the caliber of Erling Haaland, Viktor Gyökeres, and Jamal Musiala may lean towards a blaugrana offer, even if they would receive higher salaries at other clubs. The same goes for Nico Williams, Rafael Leao, or Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, among other 'cracks' that are constantly associated with Barcelona's future. In contrast, other stars like Florian Wirtz (who has a contract with Adidas) seem to have fallen behind in culé plans.

And it is that Barça already has Lamine Yamal, their main star, with a long-term contract with the German brand, a factor that the club had to deal with during Leo Messi's career. In principle, the club is clear about the need to go for a left winger and a center forward in 2025. In each case, the priority points to a player who can shine in all blaugrana advertisements without restrictions for wearing the classic 'swoosh' on their chest.
