Vinicius Jr. has once again accused a section of fans in Spain of racism. In an interview with CNN, the Real Madrid striker even called for the country to be deprived of the 2030 World Cup if he continues to suffer insults in LaLiga

Vinicius Jr. remains firm in his fight against racism in football. During the international break, the Real Madrid striker has once again been trending for controversial statements about the insults he often receives on LaLiga pitches. For the 24-year-old player, FIFA must take stronger measures to end racist behaviour and, therefore, he did not hesitate to ask for exemplary sanctions against Spain in the medium and long term.

"I hope that Spain can evolve and understand how serious it is to insult a person because of the colour of their skin," the Brazilian began by saying in an interview with the 'CNN' network. He then dropped his 'bombshell' against Spain's candidacy to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Morocco. "If before 2030 things do not evolve, I think we have to change the venue," said Vinicius, in addition to stating that, if a player does not feel comfortable and confident in a country that organises a World Cup, it is very difficult to be able to attend.

In this sense, the Real Madrid '7' backtracked in his speech, avoiding generalising about racist behaviour in LaLiga. "Many people in Spain, the majority, are not racist. But there is a small group that ends up affecting the image of a country where life is very good," explained the South American striker in statements collected by Europa Press. In addition to this, 'Vini' said he feels happy at Madrid, where he has received full support from the board and the squad to raise his voice against racism.

Vinicius warns LaLiga: Madrid will leave the field in case of racism

The Brazilian also warned of the measures that he and his club will take this season in the event of episodes similar to that at Mestalla in 2022/23, when a section of the stands insulted him throughout the match. "The situation is getting worse. The only thing we can do is leave the field so that things change as soon as possible," said the '7'. After the incidents in May 2023, LaLiga and the RFEF launched the 'Together against racism' campaign, in addition to reinforcing the punishments against fans who engage in racist behavior.
