Initially, the ankle injury does not seem serious, but we will have to wait until Thursday to see how the forward progresses. 'Lewy' may have injured himself in the 55th minute when he failed to convert a good cross from Raphinha from the left. The Warsaw native attempted to finish with his right foot, but his shot went wide after a quick closing down by Unai Simón, who ended up colliding with the Barça attacker. In the fall, Robert made a gesture of pain, touching his right foot.
Lewandowski could not extend his good streak in the Supercup
Overall, the Pole had a dull night in Jeddah. In 73 minutes, he completed 11 of 21 passes (51%), with only 2 individual duels won out of 7 opportunities and one off-target shot. Additionally, he recovered a couple of balls and lost another 3 before Hansi Flick replaced him with Ferran Torres. If he is unavailable for the final, 'Tiburón' will take his place in the XI.
Lewandowski had just scored on Saturday against Barbastro (0-4), but he could not extend his scoring streak in a tournament that he usually performs well in. In his two previous appearances in the Supercopa de España, the '9' scored a couple of goals in the 2022 edition (against Betis and Real Madrid) and the same number in 2023 (against Osasuna and Madrid). Wednesday's match was his first game without scoring in the competition that, since 2020 (except for 2021, due to the pandemic), has been held in Arabia. On Sunday, in the final, Robert will look to score in his third consecutive final, barring a major surprise, against the 'merengues'.
