Ferran Torres will miss the Netherlands-Spain match in the Nations League. Find out the reason for his absence!

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Ferran Torres has been ruled out for the first leg of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League between Spain and the Netherlands, which will take place this Thursday in Rotterdam starting at 21:45 CEST. The reason for his absence is discomfort caused by a blow he suffered in the last match of FC Barcelona, which prevents him from training normally.

Although he could have played, coach Luis de la Fuente has decided not to risk his health and hopes he will be ready for the return match on Sunday at Mestalla, a special match for him. In addition to the 'Shark', other players like Yeremi Pino and Raúl Asencio have also been ruled out for the first leg.

"Here we always prioritize the health of the player, he had discomfort that prevented him from training normally and he stopped, we want him to recover well. No risks will be taken and we hope he can play on Sunday," explained De la Fuente about the physical condition of the Barça forward. This season, Ferran has scored 13 goals and provided 3 assists in 32 matches (1,127 minutes) with the azulgrana team.

Ferran misses the Netherlands-Spain match at his best moment

The player from Foios, in fact, had just scored a brace against Atlético on Sunday in Barça's comeback at the Metropolitano (2-4), but he will have to stay in the stands of Feyenoord Stadion while La Roja fights for a place in the 'final four' of the Nations League. The return match will be played next Sunday at Mestalla, also at 21:45 h. In his last visit to Valencia's field, Torres scored a 'hat-trick' in the 'five-goal' victory in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey (0-5).

Ferran Torres' muscle injuries this season

  • Muscle injury in the biceps femoris of the right thigh: This injury kept him off the pitch for almost two months. It was diagnosed after he had to leave a match against Alavés in the 6th minute due to a pull in the back of his right thigh. In total, he missed 5 league matches and 3 Champions League matches due to this muscle problem.
  • Injury in the soleus of the right leg: This was an injury suffered at the end of 2024, described as "small" but delicate, as it requires complete recovery to avoid relapses or chronic injuries. This injury prevented him from being available for the Cup match against Barbastro on January 4.
