Only four giants of Europe still hold on to the dream of the treble in 2024-25. Discover which teams they are!

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona and three other giants of Europe keep alive the hope of winning the treble (league, cup, and Champions) in 2024-25. Real Madrid is one of the two still in the 'race' for the treble that has yet to achieve it, as both Barça (2009, 2015) and Inter Milan (2010) have accomplished it this century. The other contender is Paris Saint-Germain, a club that continues to dream of its first Champions League title.

Barça leads the LaLiga standings with 66 points after 29 matchdays, showcasing very attractive and offensive football, characteristic of Hansi Flick's teams. Their lead over Real Madrid is 3 points and their attack, led by players like Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha, has been devastating, scoring 82 goals so far.

The culés are also already in the Copa del Rey final after eliminating Atlético de Madrid in the semifinals (5-4 on aggregate). They will face Real Madrid on April 26, 2025, at La Cartuja, a match that could define their path to the treble. In Champions, Barça has advanced to the quarter-finals with a spectacular streak of 8 victories and only 1 draw, where they will meet the current tournament runner-up, Borussia Dortmund. In the 'semis', they are set to face Inter Milan or Bayern Munich.

A limping Madrid still dreams of its first treble

The whites occupy the second position in LaLiga with 63 points, 3 behind Barcelona. Despite multiple injuries (such as those of Carvajal and Militao) and ups and downs in their game, the arrival of Kylian Mbappé has boosted their attack alongside Vinicius Jr. and Bellingham. However, the 4-0 defeat to Barça at the Bernabéu weighs heavily on their morale, especially with two more Clásicos on the horizon in the Cup (final) and League (matchday 35) that will define two of the three titles at stake.

Thanks to the controversial comeback against Real Sociedad in the semifinals (5-4 on aggregate, with Rüdiger decisive in extra time), the 'merengues' are also still alive in the Cup. The Clásico on April 26, without a doubt, could propel either the azulgranas or the whites towards the treble. In Champions, Madrid is in the quarter-finals after eliminating Atlético de Madrid in the round of 16 in a controversial penalty shootout. Their league campaign was irregular (5 victories in 8 matches), but now they will face a severely injured Arsenal. In the 'semis', they await PSG or Aston Villa.

Inter Milan, a solid and serious team with their eyes on the treble

Inter leads Serie A with a 3-point advantage over Napoli, supported by the direction of Simone Inzaghi and the lethal duo Lautaro Martínez-Marcus Thuram. Their defense, with Bastoni and Pavard, is one of the most solid in Europe, having conceded only 2 goals in 10 Champions matches. There, they will face Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals, while in the 'semis' they are on the azulgrana side of the draw.

In the Coppa Italia, they are in the semifinals, facing their neighbor and archrival, AC Milan. In the first leg, both teams drew 1-1, while the return match will be played on April 23, with the 'nerazzurri' as the home team.

PSG, ignited after Kylian Mbappé's departure

Finally, the Parisians are once again presenting their credentials as contenders for everything in 2024-25. PSG leads Ligue 1 comfortably (hypothetically 10-12 points over the second), supported by an attack led by Vitinha, Barcola, and a rejuvenated Gonçalo Ramos after Mbappé's departure. The league title could be clinched this very weekend, while in the Cup they will face Reims (15th in the league) on May 24.

Thus, Luis Enrique's team can fully focus on the Champions League. The team reached the quarter-finals after eliminating Liverpool in the round of 16, with a stellar Donnarumma in the penalties. Their league phase was very complicated (only 13 points in 8 matches) and now they will face Aston Villa, with their sights set on Real Madrid or Arsenal for the 'semis'. This is their main objective after years of European failures.

Barça, the clear favorite to win it all this season

As things stand, FC Barcelona is, for now, the strongest candidate due to its consistency and level of play, closely followed by Real Madrid, whose experience in finals could be decisive. Inter is a solid contender, but less favored in Europe, while PSG has the offensive potential necessary to make an impact, but their European failures weigh heavily. Everything will be defined in the coming weeks, with the Champions quarter-finals (April) and the cup finals (April-May) as key points. The Clásico in the Copa del Rey final represents a key indicator of who has the best chances of achieving the feat.
