The young genius from Rocafonda, at just 17 years old, has received a new award that positions him as one of the most decisive and representative athletes in the current world. His impact even transcends football, consolidating him as a true global sports icon at a surprisingly young age.
The '19' of FC Barcelona has been recognized as the Best Breakthrough Athlete of the Season at the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards. An award given by the Laureus Academy in which Lamine competed with prominent names in international sports such as:

Thiago Alcântara received the award on his behalf
Lamine could not attend the award ceremony, as he is concentrated with FC Barcelona for this Tuesday's league commitment against RCD Mallorca. The former Barça midfielder, Thiago Alcântara, served as Yamal's representative for receiving this award, in addition to being in charge of announcing the nominees.

Through a message, the right winger thanked for the distinction and dedicated some emotional words for the recognition, which makes him the youngest athlete in history to win an award given by the renowned Laureus Academy, considered as the 'Oscars of sports'.
A season full of awards and achievements for Lamine Yamal
Lamine Yamal is having a memorable season. In addition to the Laureus award, he had already been recognized with:
- The Kopa Trophy 2024: to the Best Under-21 Footballer in the world, awarded by France Football.
- The Golden Boy 2024: award given by Tuttosport to the Best Under-21 Footballer in the world.
Brilliant 2024 with FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team
In this edition of the Laureus, Lamine Yamal took the award for World Breakthrough of the Year, after having an spectacular year with both FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

With Spain, he was one of the great stars of Euro 2024, a tournament in which La Roja was proclaimed champion. The forward scored an unforgettable goal in the 'semis' against France and also added four assists in seven matches, being chosen Best Young Player of the tournament. Likewise, he broke a significant number of records in the competition.
In the Barça team, he closed 2024 with 11 goals and 16 assists in 38 matches, consolidating himself as a key piece in the club's scheme, both in the sports project of Xavi Hernández and now in that of Hansi Flick. His evolution seems to have no ceiling.
