The sanction that Jude Bellingham will have to face for the incidents related to his controversial expulsion against CA Osasuna has been announced: only two matches!

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Finally, the extent of the sanction that Jude Bellingham will face after his unfortunate red card in the Real Madrid match against CA Osasuna (1-1) is known. It should be noted that the 21-year-old English midfielder was sent off in the match against the Pamplona team for, according to the exact words of the main referee of that match, José Luis Munuera Montero, addressing him from just a few meters away and using the regrettable insult "f*ck you" or "screw you".

Fortunately for Jude Bellingham, the Disciplinary Committee has decided not to impose a severe sanction for this unfortunate behavior, limiting it to only two matches of suspension for the '5' of the white team. This sanction is based on what the Disciplinary Committee classified as "attitudes of contempt or disrespect towards referees, officials, or sports authorities", based on Article 124 of the Disciplinary Code.

This penalty could have been much more extensive, as according to this article, it could have extended up to a month. However, Jude Bellingham benefited from the nuance of "contempt or disrespect", as if it had been considered an insult or offense, the sanction would have been more severe.

The argument from Madrid to defend Bellingham was dismissed by the Disciplinary Committee

It is worth mentioning that from Real Madrid, an attempt was made to defend the attitude of Jude Bellingham, arguing that instead of saying "f*ck you", he expressed a "f*ck off" or "don't mess with me", a comment theoretically less strong. However, the Disciplinary Committee dismissed any allegations from the merengue club.

"Neither the images provided, nor the expert evidence accompanying them allow reaching the unequivocal conviction that the player did not utter the phrase attributed to him in the report, but rather another different one. In particular, the video evidence does not allow appreciating the exact moment when the player pronounces this phrase completely, making it impossible in the opinion of this Committee to appreciate the preposition that accompanies the verb fuck," states the document containing the resolution of this case.

Furthermore, the document adds that "given this reality, the expert evidence and the club's own effort to interpret them to construct its version of what was really said is undoubtedly very respectable, but insufficient to destroy the presumption of veracity of the referee's report, according to what is stated in the second section of this Resolution".

Which matches will Jude miss with the merengue club?

With this in mind, Jude Bellingham, who had already been sanctioned with two matches for a similar action last season in a LaLiga match against Valencia CF, and who on this occasion tried to explain that he only intended to say "screw", will not be available for Real Madrid in the upcoming local matches against Girona (02/23) and Real Betis (03/02) respectively, returning to be available for Carlo Ancelotti for the first weekend of March for the match against Rayo Vallecano (03/09). It should be noted that this sanction does not affect his participation in the first leg of the 'semis' of the Copa del Rey against Real Sociedad (02/26).
