Steven Gerrard talked about the Golden Ball and made his preferences clear. The legendary former Liverpool midfielder would not give the Golden Ball to Leo Messi and bet on Virgil van Dijk, who already won the Best UEFA Player award
The Balloon of Gold will deliver this next Monday 2 December and everything aims that Leo Messi will be the victorious of the same. The means signalled this week that France Football, the magazine commissioned to give the award, displaced to Barcelona to communicate him the news to the Argentinian and do him the necessary photos so that it appear in the cover.
If this finishes confirming, will be the sixth Balloon of Gold of the '10' of the FC Barcelona. Right now, the rosarino empata with Cristiano Ronaldo to five, with what, to win, will turn into the player that more has won in the history of the football. The Barcelona captain is to only a step to make history by enésima time to arrive to a place where anybody had arrived before.
But, in spite of the evident merits that has done Messi to heave this prize, there is the one who thinks that no deserves it to him. For some, Virgil go Dijk, champion of the Champions with the Liverpool and MVP of the past Premier League, would have to be the winner this course. The Dutch already won the prize to Better Player UEFA, but lost the final of the The Best with the culé. Now, it seems the rival elder of Leo in the career by this Balloon of Gold.
One of which thinks that the Dutch deserves more the award that the Argentinian is Steven Gerrard. The mythical ex footballer of the Liverpool and current trainer of the Glasgow Rangers spoke on this after the tie of his against the Feyenord in Europe League. The English declared his love by Messi, but left clear that, if by him went, Go Dijk would be the winner of the prize.
"I am the fanatical elder of Messi, but if you look the consistency with which played Go Dijk this year, included the victory in the League of Champions with the Liverpool, then, in my opinion, deserves the Balloon of Gold" admitted the ex midfield player 'network'. Precisely his argument is the one who use the majority of fans and understood of the world of the football to defend the thesis that the international 'orange' would have to win the prize.
The Balloon of Gold and the bandazos that has given
The Balloon of Gold, in spite of his larguísima path, has given too many bandazos these last years. There have been campaigns in which it has put by in front the individual performance of the footballer, others in which it has taken into account this and the collective level of the team and others in which they have explained more the titles. If it wins it Messi, this course would reward more the individual, whereas if it does it Go Dijk, would be a mix of this and of the titles, since the Champions is used to to explain a lot for this type of awards.
