Lamine Yamal and FC Barcelona shine in Europe! All the nominees for the 2024 Ballon d'Or
France Football and UEFA have announced the nominees for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, in the first edition of the prestigious award under the partnership of both organisations. Barça, one of the protagonists, receiving 10 nominations across its different categories
We have nominees for the 2024 Ballon d'Or! On September 4, all the nominees for the 8 categories that reward the best in football worldwide were announced. This will be the first edition in which UEFA and France Football have joined forces to present the highest individual award in the sport. The awards ceremony will take place on October 28 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. This year, two new awards were added: best men's team coach and best women's team coach.
FC Barcelona reached a total of 10 nominations. Pau Cubarsí and Lamine Yamal are strong candidates for the Kopa Trophy. Barcelona Women's team was nominated for Women's Club of the Year and five of its players will compete for the Women's Ballon d'Or. Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo were considered for the Ballon d'Or.
Kopa Trophy nominees
For the Kopa Trophy, which awards the best player under 21, FC Barcelona's Lamine Yamal is the top favourite. The 17-year-old caused a sensation at Euro 2024 with an impeccable performance that helped Spain to win the trophy. Pau Cubarsí is also nominated from the Blaugrana team, the two being the only Spaniards on this list. Arda Güler from Real Madrid is positioned as another candidate for the award.

Yashin Trophy nominees
Unai Simón is the only Spaniard in this shortlist of highly-regarded goalkeepers. The surprise was the inclusion of South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams of Mamelodi Sundowns on the list. Here the competition is a little more complex with Andriy Lunin of Real Madrid and 'Dibu' Martínez of Aston Villa as favourites after winning the Champions League and the Copa América, respectively.

Men's Coach of the Year nominees
Spain has three coaches in the running for the best coach of the year award: Xabi Alonso, Luis de la Fuente and Pep Guardiola. All three are big favourites for the trophy, especially the former who achieved the first double in the history of Bayer Leverkusen, being the first team to win the Bundesliga unbeaten.
