A judge of Belgium has requested him to the court of the European Union in Luxembourg that examine if the rule of the UEFA, that forces to have a minimum number of canteranos (Homegrown players), fulfils with the free circulation of the labour laws and of European competition.
As it has announced AP, the decision of reference was taken the Friday by a judge of the court of first instance of Brussels. The rule imposed by the UEFA in 2005 was recently questioned in Belgium for considering a restriction regarding options of alignment and selection of teams.
Said process was initiated the past year by the Royal Antwerp and his then player Lior Refaelov, international Israeli. His alegato has supposed a challenge to the Belgian Association of Football for establishing quotas of canteranos in the first team and in the list of summoned of the day.
Minimum of canteranos
It is important to highlight that in the Belgian football, the limit of a staff of a club is of 25 players, and has to include eight footballers that have developed in the inferior categories of said institution. At least six have to ingresar in the announcement of each party.
East represents the second legal case of football that directs to the Court of Justice of the European Union, after the dispute of the clubs of the Superliga European against the UEFA. In this opportunity, the change of normative could be transcendental in the football of the old continent.
