Hansi Flick put out a completely new XI for the Barça-Mallorca match, with Ansu Fati as the main novelty. The '10' will play his second La Liga match as a starter this season
Ansu Fati will be the big novelty for FC Barcelona this Tuesday against Mallorca. Hansi Flick opted for an unprecedented lineup, thinking about the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, in addition to giving opportunities to the players with fewer minutes in the squad.
Among them, the leader is the one from Bisáu, who barely accumulates 191' spread over 9 appearances. In La Liga, in fact, the '10' only started against Sevilla in matchday 10 (5-1), a match where he left good feelings during the 76 minutes he was on the field.
Ansu had not played in the tournament since the match against Real Sociedad on matchday 13 (he played 21 minutes in the 1-0 defeat) and this 2025 he had barely participated in the Copa against Barbastro (28') and against Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals (4').
Ansu Fati, starting for Barça 184 days later!
In that sense, 184 days passed to see the 22-year-old winger as a starter for the Blaugrana team again and another 163 days for the forward to add minutes in La Liga. Fati suffered a muscle injury in mid-November that kept him out of action for almost a month.
Since then, he has hardly featured for Flick, being left out of the squad in 5 La Liga matchdays, 3 Copa del Rey matches and the Spanish Super Cup. His reaction on Saturday against Celta (4-3) did not please the coach at all, although the coach understands the player's frustration for a season condemned to ostracism.
That is why Flick, instead of deepening the controversy, definitively marginalizing him for the rest of the season, has made a move by putting him in the starting lineup against a Mallorca that will also opt for an alternative XI, forced by injuries (4) and suspension (2).
What will Ansu Fati bring to Barça's attack against Mallorca?

Thus, Ansu will have one last chance to improve his image with Barcelona in 24-25, returning to his natural position. As a left winger, the one from Bisáu will bring depth and imbalance to a Blaugrana attack that will not be able to count on Alejandro Balde, due to injury.
Gerard Martín covered the '3's absence against Celta, but had problems stopping the incursions of Pablo Durán, a figure in the Galician attack alongside Borja Iglesias. In his place will be Héctor Fort, another of Flick's outcasts this season.
Flick's idea is to bet on the Fati-Fort tandem on the left, giving more overflow on the left to a Barça that will have Ferran Torres as '9', instead of the also injured Robert Lewandowski.
Hence, Lamine Yamal and Ansu have on their shoulders the task of creating danger in the Balearic area, along with a Dani Olmo who returns as an attacking midfielder instead of Fermín López. The one from Terrassa, along with the '19', was Barça's great boost to come back against Celta.
