Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, has not hesitated to stay out of the controversy related to Dani Olmo's registration in LaLiga. However, what the culé has tended to address in a key way has been the unfortunate injury of Marc Bernal
Dani Olmo's registration in LaLiga has been a topic that has sparked speculation in recent hours. Why? First, due to the fact that it was so costly to register him that he missed the first two rounds of the local competition. Secondly, all the efforts that the blaugrana team had to make to officially enroll him as a player of the team, perhaps one of the most striking moves being letting go of a player of the hierarchy and talent of İlkay Gündoğan at no cost just to generate some salary margin, thus saving his salary.
However, the move that has attracted much more attention and has generated all this controversy is the one that has finally allowed the registration of the player from Barcelona, in an anecdotal way, due to the injury of Andreas Christensen. The Barcelona team has taken advantage of Article 77 of LaLiga's Economic Control Regulations, which allows the team to use 80% of the injured player's salary space to register another player if a player suffers an injury of four months or more.
Now, where is the alleged controversy behind Dani Olmo's registration?
However, what has caused particular discomfort in various sectors is that the physical setback of the Danish defender, classified as a "tendinopathy in the left Achilles tendon," apparently would only require a downtime of one to two months at most. In light of this, several sources began to speculate on the possibility that the club may have intentionally extended this recovery time to four months in order to avail itself of the aforementioned Article 77. They submitted a series of medical reports which, upon review, were validated by the league's medical committee.
A move that could undoubtedly benefit Barcelona, as even if Christensen returns before four months, he would still have the option to play, with Dani Olmo duly registered. This situation would last until December 31 at the latest, giving the Barcelona team time to readjust their salary margin and regularize their situation. This is something they would have to do urgently, as failure to open up salary space before December 31 would result in Dani Olmo no longer being a Barcelona player in LaLiga and unable to be registered again.
Ancelotti 'passes' on talking about Dani Olmo's registration in LaLiga
Precisely, amid all this extensive controversy, questions have been raised about Carlo Ancelotti, who spoke out during the press conference ahead of the match between Real Madrid and UD Las Palmas, scheduled for Thursday, August 29 at the Estadio Gran Canaria at 9:30 p.m. (CET). When asked about this issue, the Italian coach chose to remain neutral and elegantly avoided delving into the controversy. "It's a question you have to ask LaLiga, we respect all players and all teams," he asserted.
The Italian's reflection on Marc Bernal's injury
In another context, returning to the Barcelona realm, 'Carletto' did not miss the opportunity to comment on the unfortunate injury suffered by Marc Bernal, who unfortunately has a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee and an associated injury to the external meniscus that will keep him out for the rest of the season. In response to this situation, the Italian expressed a sincere and emotional reflection. "Injuries at this point in the season are the most complicated. This is what happens when the schedule is too tight and there is no time to prepare. You have to choose between work or vacation. And when these end, there are 10-11 months of work. It's a lot. In August, the intensity is maximum and catches you without proper preparation. It's a problem for everyone... and it's sad. Very sad. I want to face the best players", he concluded.
