Barça and Osasuna agree to play the suspended match on the same date
Barcelona and the 'rojillo' club agree to play in the month when LaLiga will conclude! Discover the exact date!
The suspension of the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna, due to the passing of the azulgrana doctor Carles Miñarro, during matchday 27 of LaLiga EA Sports, put both clubs in a complicated situation. Now it seems that both the Navarre team and the Catalan team agree to face each other on Wednesday, May 21.
According to several sources, the Pamplona team sent a statement to the offices of the relevant bodies such as LaLiga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), explaining their desire to play on the mentioned date. This day is apparently the most convenient for the azulgranas as well, considering that they are currently fighting for all competitions.
March 27, date rejected by Barcelona
Playing on March 27 would pose a headache for Barcelona, as there will be an international break from Thursday, March 20 to Tuesday, March 25. Consequently, it would be very difficult for the culé team to count on Raphinha and Ronald Araujo, because they would return with very little rest.
Uruguay will play on March 25 at 21:00 (Spain time), creating a tight return for the '4' of Barça, but the most complicated scenario would arise for the '11' blaugrana, as Brazil will face Argentina on the 26th at 01:00. Given this situation, Barcelona maintains a firm stance: if they cannot count on two of their key players, they will opt not to play the match, although the RFEF Regulations make it clear that the call-up of players with their national teams is not a reason to suspend or postpone a match.
Considering everything that a possible scenario would imply in the absence of 'Rapha' and the Uruguayan, the club from the City of Barcelona considers that the best option is to play on May 21, between the penultimate (J-37) and last matchday (J-38) of LaLiga. It should not be overlooked that Barcelona aims to reach the final of the Copa del Rey, which will take place on April 26, and the final of the Champions League, which will be played on May 31.
What if the azulgranas do not reach the Copa del Rey final?
Another point to consider is that if Barcelona fails to win the return match in the 'semis' against Atlético de Madrid (the series is tied 4-4) on April 2 at the Metropolitano, the date of the 27th of the same month would open up to play the match, but it is a practically discarded option. This is because, according to 'Mundo Deportivo', the existing coordination agreement between LaLiga and the RFEF states that no Primera División match can be played on the weekend of the Copa del Rey final.
