FC Barcelona lost to Leganés (0-1) on Sunday with an early goal from Sergio González at 196 seconds, the fastest conceded by the culés in the 2024/25 season
The defeat of FC Barcelona against Leganés (0-1) will be remembered for two reasons. On one hand, it is the first official home defeat for the culés against a 'pepinero' team that was also close to breaking a statistical record. Indeed, the goal scored by Sergio González was the second fastest for Lega in LaLiga history, only surpassed by one from Gabriel Appelt, against Sevilla in 2017 (at 120 seconds).
The defender's goal came before the 4th minute, at 196 seconds, after a lapse in the azulgrana defense during a corner taken by Óscar Rodríguez from the right side. The center-back headed in unmarked, leaving Iñaki Peña frozen, who had just denied Munir a goal with an excellent save seconds earlier. Previously, against Rayo, Barça had conceded a goal at 9 minutes and 2 seconds (from Unai López).
Hansi Flick's Barça received its first corner goal
Moreover, the Lega goal was only the third that the team has conceded this season in the first half at Montjuïc. Previously, Oihan Sancet (Athletic) and Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) had done the same in two matches that, unlike Sunday’s, ended in azulgrana victories. Likewise, the azulgrana team had not conceded corner goals since Hansi Flick's arrival.
The last goal conceded in this manner was on August 27, 2023, against Villarreal (culé victory 3-4), scored by Juan Foyth. And, in the 2024/25 season, it was the first time the team went into halftime trailing at home. In the previous league match played at Lluís Companys, Barça had also lost narrowly (1-2 against Las Palmas) after drawing goalless in the first half.
