Before the start of the derby between FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol, an emotional moment was experienced at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc when a minute of silence was observed in memory of the more than 200 dead and hundreds missing due to the DANA in the area of Valencia and Albacete.
The two teams, together with the Barcelona fans, thus expressed their mourning for the tragedy that has unfolded in recent days. Before the match, both Hansi Flick and Manolo González expressed that if it were up to them the matchday would not have been played, but LaLiga only postponed the matches that the teams from the Valencian Community were to play.
Barça will auction off its players' shirts
Through its Foundation, Barça will auction off the shirts worn by its players in this Sunday's match against Espanyol with the aim of raising funds that will be destined to help the population affected by DANA.
Similarly, 'Mundo Deportivo' has reported that the club has other initiatives in mind after recommending to its members and followers that they not send clothes or food in order not to collapse the humanitarian corridors and the routes opened for the emergency services, since they advocated using the help lines of the entities with which it collaborates (Red Cross, Caritas and Food Bank) as they are expert institutions in emergencies.
