FC Barcelona suffered their first defeat in LaLiga EA Sports 2024/25 at the hands of Osasuna at the Sadar (4-2). However, the team led by Hansi Flick was once again the victim of questionable refereeing decisions, as they were involved in two plays that could have changed the outcome of the match. While Pau Víctor was fouled glaringly in the action prior to the second goal for the Rojillos, Lamine Yamal was 'tackled' inside the area in a penalty as a cathedral. Despite this, the VAR turned a blind eye and did not intervene in any case.

In the 28th minute of the match, Bryan Zaragoza put the score at 2-0 after beating Koundé and Sergi Domínguez and dribbling past Iñaki Peña in the area. However, in the action prior to the goal, Pau Víctor suffered a very hard and indisputable stomp from Lucas Torró. The Barça players claimed the infringement, but, inexplicably, neither the referee Cuadra Fernández nor Pizarro Gómez in the VAR decided to ignore it.

The clear penalty on Lamine Yamal

On the other hand, in the 90+4' and with 3 more minutes to play, Lamine Yamal fell in the area after a very clear grab by Bretones, who tackled the Barça player as if he were an NFL defensive end. However, and without any reason, both the VAR and Cuadra Fernández again ignored the infraction against Barça. Curiously, a couple of days ago they did intervene to sanction a penalty in favor of Real Madrid when Endrick was brought down a meter away from the area.

"It's a very clear foul (on Pau Víctor) and there's a very clear penalty on Lamine Yamal as well. It's clear that they stepped on him (Pau Víctor), they took away a goal against Rayo for a minor stomp. I don't understand why it's not called here, but if he saw it like that it's no excuse either," said an indignant Pedri at the end of the match. So it's clear that the ball continues to fall into the same court as always.
