Barça welcomed Getafe to Montjuïc for matchday 7 of LaLiga EA Sports. In a match without many surprises, the Catalans comfortably defeated their rivals (1-0) and are one win away from equalling the best league start in the club's history

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Wednesday 25 September was a great night for FC Barcelona. The Blaugranas returned to Montjuïc to face Getafe in the match corresponding to matchday 7 of LaLiga EA Sports 2024-2025, managing to maintain their unbeaten record and the lead in the local championship with a resounding victory against the blue-and-whites (1-0) that allows them to add 21 out of 21 and place themselves again 4 points behind Real Madrid.

Barça won one of those matches that give leagues, with Robert Lewandowski as the figure of a match in which the result does not do justice to what was seen on the field. Getafe warned with an early header from Carles Pérez, and from then on it was a monologue from Flick's men. The Catalans, practically without breaking a sweat, took control of a duel whose only goal came at the feet of the Pole in the 20th minute. The remaining 70 minutes were testimonial, with the home team dominating at will and taking the three points comfortably despite the tight scoreline.

A victory to make history

It is important to note that against José Bordalás's team, the Catalans managed to keep a clean sheet for the second time this season. A fact that highlights the work done by the defence and by Iñaki Peña, who in his first start after Marc-André Ter Stegen's serious injury managed to prevent his goal from falling even when the Madrid team 'pressed' in the last minutes of the match.

On the other hand, Wednesday's victory writes the name of Hansi Flick's team in the club's golden books. With this victory, the German surpasses Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova and ties Ernesto Valverde in second place for the best starts in the club's history with seven wins in the first seven games. Now, the focus is on Osasuna, where they could equal 'Tata Martino's' record next Saturday, September 28 at El Sadar.
