FC Barcelona remained undefeated in LaLiga EA Sports 2024/25 on Saturday in the visit to Osasuna (4-2). The team led by Hansi Flick paid dearly for the rotations introduced by the German coach and ended up beaten in Pamplona after a gray night on all their lines. With the defeat at El Sadar, the culés are one victory away from equaling their best historical start in the tournament, valid since the 2013/14 season.
The team then led by Gerardo 'Tata' Martino added eight victories in a row, with a total of 28 goals for and 6 against (+22). The first puncture of that season came on matchday 9, together against Osasuna in Pamplona (0-0). The culés would end the 2013/14 without titles, with LaLiga in the hands of Atlético de Madrid and the Copa del Rey in the showcases of Real Madrid, which also won the Champions League that year. With Saturday's win, Barça continues to lead with 21 points, but the goal difference drops to +16 (25 goals for and 9 against).
Barça says goodbye to the unbeaten record with an embarrassing result
Barça started in 'steamroller' mode, with victories against Valencia, Athletic, Rayo, Valladolid, Girona, Villarreal and Getafe, three of them by two wins (the biggest, 7-0 against Pucelanos). However, the team had shown signs of fatigue on Wednesday against Getafe (1-0) and, with a short squad plagued by injuries, Flick had no choice but to use the kids to balance the physical loads in an XI with a lot of filming at this point in the season.
In the end, the plan went in the worst way, with many inaccuracies in defense and a clearly overwhelmed midfield. In attack there were not many solutions either, with the exception of the solitary goal scored by Pau Víctor and the great goal by Lamine Yamal (he entered the complement) in the 90th minute. Osasuna took advantage of the spaces and the culé disorder in the background to prevail with justice. The only good news for Barça is that, despite the defeat, the leadership is not at risk and, if there is a tie in the Madrid derby on Sunday, the damage will be minimal in the standings.
