Calendar of FC Barcelona

The match on Sunday against Girona (16:15 CEST) opens the door for FC Barcelona to continue breaking offensive records in the 2024-25 season. The team managed by Hansi Flick, undisputed leader of LaLiga after 28 matchdays, is just one goal away from matching all the goals scored last season in the tournament (79).

With the thrashing against Osasuna (3-0), the Catalans reached 78 goals with ten matchdays remaining. At this point last season, Barcelona had scored 21 goals less (57) and was third in the table with 61 points (two less than this year), but eight points behind Real Madrid.

To see a Barcelona so prolific in La Liga, we have to go back to the 2016-17 season, the last season of Luis Enrique on the bench. That season, the Catalans scored 81 goals in the first 28 matchdays and finished the season with 116 goals. The record, for now, remains in the hands of José Mourinho's Madrid, which scored 121 goals in 38 matches in the 2011-12 season.

Barcelona, second team with the best scoring average in Europe

In this regard, Barcelona averages 2.78 goals per match, with 19 goals scored more than Real Madrid (59). Regarding the five major European leagues, Liverpool (69 goals in 29 matches) and Inter Milan (65 in 29) are far from Barcelona's offensive records.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, has scored 75 goals in 26 matches, slightly surpassing Barcelona's average (2.88). Paris Saint-Germain, for its part, is very close to the Bavarians, with 73 goals in 26 matches (2.80).

In total, Barcelona has scored 136 goals in 44 matches across all competitions, averaging 3.09 goals per match. In the Champions League, the Catalans were the top scorers in the group stage with 28 goals in 8 matches, and after the round of 16, the team has scored 32 goals, more than any other team in the tournament.

PSG, thanks to its crushing aggregate of 10-0 against Brest in the 'play-off', has already scored 25 goals in the tournament, 3 less than the next blue and garnet rival, Borussia Dortmund (28). The Germans also have two more matches played than Barcelona.
