FC Barcelona visits Las Palmas this Saturday (21:00 h), a high-risk match for the culés against a rival that already defeated them in the first round. Fermín López and Gavi could be key players for the culés

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Fermín López will return to action in LaLiga with FC Barcelona this Saturday. The player from Huelva missed the match against Rayo Vallecano last Monday due to suspension, following the direct red card he received against Sevilla in matchday 23 (1-4). Having suffered only a one-match ban, the '16' will be able to enter the squad against Unión Deportiva Las Palmas, a match to be played this Saturday the 22nd in the Canary Islands (21:00 CEST).

The player from El Campillo recently scored against Sevilla, a match where he netted right after halftime. With this, the Andalusian reached 5 goals and 5 assists in 25 matches (1,039 minutes). Four of his goals have come in the last four weeks, after scoring three times against Valencia (two in La Liga and one in the Cup) and 'scoring' in the league match against the Sevillians. Against Valencia, in La Liga, he also provided a couple of assists, while in the Cup, he assisted another in the 'five-goal' match against Betis.

Gavi, one yellow card away from missing a match due to suspension

However, Fermín's return contrasts with Gavi's current situation. The '6' received his fourth yellow card in the tournament against Rayo (1-0), leaving him just one caution away from missing a match due to suspension. The player from Los Palacios and Villafranca has accumulated three consecutive league matches with a yellow card, as he was also cautioned against Alavés and Sevilla. Previously, his only yellow card came in the Clásico played at the Santiago Bernabéu (0-4).

Given the circumstances, the match against Las Palmas could be high-risk for a Barça that just regained the lead last matchday, after 78 days in the shadow of Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid. Diego Martínez's team already surprised the culés in the first round (1-2 in Montjuïc), although they arrive in the midst of a severe results crisis. In 2025, the Canary team has only managed a draw (at home against Osasuna, 1-1) in six matches, with five defeats, the last three in a row (2-1 against Girona, 1-2 against Villarreal, and 3-1 in Mallorca).
