Robert Lewandowski scored again in LaLiga for FC Barcelona in the visit to Balaídos (2-2). Against Celta, the Pole scored his 20th goal in 19 appearances this season

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona failed in their visit to Celta de Vigo (2-2), a match where Robert Lewandowski extended his lead in the LaLiga scoring charts. The Pole scored the 0-2 partial in the 61st minute and reached 15 goals in the tournament, 7 more than Raphinha and Vinicius Jr., his closest pursuers (with 8).

The '9' took advantage of a filtered pass from Raphinha to win the duel against Starfelt based on hierarchy, controlling the ball despite the attempts of the central defender to clear it to stand before Vicente Guaita and finish with his right foot. The goal seemed to settle the match, but the Galicians took advantage of the errors in the culé defense to react and save a golden point.

Robert, for his part, managed to break a two-match streak without scoring (against Espanyol and Real Sociedad) and, although he did not have his best night, he took advantage of his only opportunity to score. He also completed 15 of 20 passes (75%), with one successful dribble and one match won in four attempts. Pau Víctor replaced him one minute into stoppage time.

Lewandowski makes his best start in La Liga and equals Messi and Cristiano

With his goal at Balaídos, Lewandowski signed his best start in LaLiga with 15 goals scored in the first 14 games. The Pole equaled Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who reached this record on three and four occasions, respectively. The last player to do so, with the exception of the Rosario and the Portuguese, was Salva Ballesta, in 1999 with Racing de Santander.

In 2022/23, 'Lewy' scored 13 goals in the first 12 league games, but he went three games without scoring (from 13 to 15) before missing the next three games due to suspension. This meant that the Warsaw native closed the first round of the tournament with 14 goals, one less than what he has managed to score so far in 2024/25.

In addition, Robert also equalled Harry Kane in the direct duel for the Golden Boot. The Barça '9' reached 20 goals in 19 games (15 in La Liga and 5 in the Champions League), the same as the Englishman has scored in 17 appearances with the Bavarians (14 in La Liga, 5 in the Champions League and 1 in the Cup). Erling Haaland, for his part, remains stuck on 15 goals with a Manchester City in free fall.
