Betis salvaged a point in their visit to Montjuïc (1-1), marking their second draw of the season against Barça
FC Barcelona drew on Saturday against Betis (1-1), which was their second draw in LaLiga this 2025 and the fourth tie in the tournament after 30 matchdays. Interestingly, two of those draws were against a 'green and white' team that thus became the first opponent to survive in both encounters against Hansi Flick's side this League.
Barça arrived fired up for the match of matchday 30, with nine consecutive victories and an unbeaten streak of 21 matches in all competitions this year. Although the unbeaten run continued, Natan's goal in the 17th minute allowed Manuel Pellegrini's team to salvage a point in their visit to Montjuïc. In the first round, the encounter between both teams ended in a thrilling 2-2 at the Benito Villamarín.
Thus, Barça drew their first home match of the season in the League, as the other two draws were against Celta (2-2) and both were as visitors. In fact, the culés had not drawn a match at Montjuïc for over a year in LaLiga. It was in matchday 27 of last season, on February 11, 2024, against Granada (3-3).
Barça could not replicate their great performance in the Cup against Betis
The last encounter between Barça and Betis in Montjuïc had been very different. In the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, on January 15, Flick's team crushed the Andalusians with a 'manita' (5-1). Gavi, Koundé, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal scored for the culés, while Vitor Roque, now at Palmeiras, scored for the 'green and whites'.
However, Betis recovered from the harsh cup elimination and arrived at Montjuïc with a streak of 6 consecutive victories. Now, they are 7 matches unbeaten for Pellegrini's team, who continue to dream of qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League as fifth in the standings. The last time Betis drew both of their matches against Barcelona in the League was in the 2006-07 season, a season where the culés let the title slip away in the final stretch, after a thrilling head-to-head with Madrid.
