FC Barcelona visits Leganés this Saturday, the last opponent Barça failed to score against this season in LaLiga. What will happen in Butarque?
Leganés and FC Barcelona face each other this Saturday in Butarque for matchday 31 of LaLiga. The 'Azulgrana' team returns to Madrid in its best moment, but with its guard up to face a very dangerous opponent. In the first round, the 'cucumber growers' surprised Barça (0-1), this being the last match where Hansi Flick's team could not score any goals this season. The other defeat, by the same score, was against Real Sociedad (1-0). In the rest of the 48 matches played by the team in 24-25, at least one goal has always been scored.
On December 15, 2024, a goal by Sergio González in the 4th minute was enough for the Madrid team to make history in Montjuïc with their first victory against Barça. The 'Culés' had absolute control of the match, with 80% possession and up to 20 shots, but only 4 of them were on target. The day was doubly gray for Flick's team, because in addition to the defeat, Lamine Yamal left with an injured right ankle.
A week later, Barça would add its third defeat at home and the fifth in La Liga against Atlético (1-2), while Lega was thrashed at home against Villarreal (2-5). Already in 2025, the path of both teams has been radically opposite. The 'Azulgrana' team remains undefeated in the last 23 matches in all competitions (19 wins and 4 draws), while the 'cucumber growers' have only been able to win 2 of their last 12 matches in La Liga.
Barça cannot afford to give up ground in LaLiga
However, Flick's team arrives at Butarque with the obligation to add three points that allow them to maintain the lead with peace of mind. Barça drew last matchday against Betis (1-1), but thanks to Real Madrid's defeat against Valencia (1-2) they extended their advantage to four points over the 'merengues'. Atlético de Madrid, for its part, moved to 7 points behind the 'Culés' after winning in Seville (1-2).
In that sense, it is likely that Flick will come out with a couple of tweaks in his XI, but again lining up most of his 'untouchables'. The Catalans will travel to Dortmund on Monday for the rematch against Borussia in the Champions League (Tuesday at 21:00) and, afterwards, they will receive Celta on Saturday at 16:15. The following week, it is time to face Mallorca in Montjuïc (Tuesday 22), four days before the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid (Saturday 26 in La Cartuja).
