FC Barcelona finally knows what its Sports Squad Cost Limit (LCPD) is for the next winter market, with the good news that the culé team has experienced a significant improvement in this aspect. Do you want to know how much it is? We tell you at FCBN

Calendar of FC Barcelona

LaLiga, in a press conference that took place this Thursday and featured the presence of the president of the organization, Javier Tebas, and the corporate general director, Javier Gómez, as main figures, officially revealed the Limits of Sports Squad Costs (LCPD) of the clubs in the Spanish First and Second divisions. This is an especially relevant topic as it establishes the maximum amount each team can spend during the current season. This limit includes expenses on players, the first team coach, physical trainer of the first team, as well as expenses on the youth academy and other sections.

Fortunately, for FC Barcelona, the outlook has seen a significant change. Why? LaLiga has disclosed that the sports squad cost limit for the Barça team for the upcoming winter transfer market now stands at 426 million euros, representing an increase of 108.8% compared to the figures from the last transfer window, when the club's limit was set at approximately 204 million euros.

In the same vein, it has also been revealed that Real Madrid now has a salary cap of 754 million euros, improving on the 727 million euros reached in February. On the other hand, concerning another one of the 'big' LaLiga teams, Atlético Madrid has also slightly improved in this aspect, increasing from 303 'kilos' to around 310.

The 24/25 summer transfer market, key to Barcelona's improvement in this situation

In this regard, FC Barcelona has notably improved in this aspect, and why wouldn't they? After a summer transfer market focused precisely on enhancing this situation, where they only made a couple of signings (Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor). In this sense, the sporting direction of the Blaugrana team focused on offloading several players like İlkay Gündoğan, who was transferred to Manchester City.

Furthermore, Barcelona took advantage of the summer window to loan out Clément Lenglet to Atlético Madrid, Vítor Roque to Real Betis, and Oriol Romeu to Girona. They also sold Mika Faye (Stade Rennais), Julián Araujo (Bournemouth), Chadi Riad (Real Betis), and Marc Guiu (Chelsea). Additionally, they terminated the contracts of Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso, and concluded the loans of João Félix and João Cancelo.

But... Did FC Barcelona start operating under the 1/1 rule after this improvement in the salary cap?

Unfortunately not. However, the prospects are more than positive regarding achieving this desired goal. In fact, it was Javier Gómez, corporate general director of LaLiga, who addressed this issue during the press conference and revealed a key for Barcelona to further improve in this aspect. "The amount they are at in terms of 1:1 we cannot disclose, we don't do it with anyone," he said (Laporta) they were around 60 million euros."

Furthermore, Gómez did not miss the opportunity to emphasize the importance that the issue of Barça Studios' non-payment is having in complicating the increase of Barcelona's salary cap:

"What I wanted to say about Barça Studios is that, the club itself mentions it, what they owe from that lever that those payments have not been made are penalizing them, and if they receive them, their salary cap will increase," he added.

The significant improvement that the Barça team experienced in this regard

In addition, in this press conference, Javier Tebas also explained the reasons why FC Barcelona has experienced this significant improvement in its salary cap. "From 354.4 million euros at the end of the last season (first week of June) to the 426.4 million euros that LaLiga has set for them. These 72 million come from an 18 million euro non-payment from Nike which the sponsor has guaranteed to pay, they come from taking advantage of the rule that allows losses caused by stadium ticketing reform to be transferred to when the stadium is finished, and they come from the 15 million euros recognized for the payment to Aramark," he concluded.
