The second goal of Atlético Madrid against FC Barcelona was preceded by a clear handball by Rodrigo De Paul that De Burgos Bengoetxea refused to call
FC Barcelona made an incredible comeback at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano against Atlético Madrid (2-4) after being two goals down for 70 minutes, one of which was preceded by a clear handball by Rodrigo De Paul. The Argentine intentionally deflected a pass from Pedri González with his left hand, but Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, with his gaze who knows where, saw absolutely nothing.
Later, a ball theft by Antoine Griezmann from Eric García led to a lethal counterattack finished off by the recent tormentor of the azulgrana team, Alexander Sorloth. The Norwegian received a pass from Connor Gallagher from the side, finishing comfortably against Wojciech Szczesny. Fortunately for Barça, two minutes later, Robert Lewandowski scored to make it 2-1, opening the door to the epic Catalan comeback.

The VAR could not intervene to annul Sorloth's goal
Since it was a play prior to Griezmann's theft that led to Atlético's 2-0, VAR could not intervene to sanction De Paul's previous handball, as Barça had regained possession after the blatant foul by the Argentine midfielder. What was reviewed from the VOR room was Gallagher's position, but the Englishman was onside thanks to Iñigo Martínez, who, a couple of minutes later, was able to redeem himself with a great assist to 'Lewy'.
In fact, Sorloth's goal was the sixth consecutive one that the Norwegian has scored against Barça in League and Cup. Fortunately for the culés, this time there was time to react and score three vital points to steer the League title. However, there remains a sense of disbelief over the uncalled handball by De Burgos Bengoetxea, in a play that should have resulted in a free kick near the area for the azulgrana team, but instead led to a very costly loss by Eric García.
