Barça will look to maintain their unbeaten run in LaLiga against Getafe at Montjuïc. Numerous injuries have forced Hansi Flick to activate rotations, so Wednesday could see a new eleven

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Barcelona FC will host Getafe this Wednesday at the Estadi Olimpic Lluís Companys, in the match corresponding to the seventh round of LaLiga EA Sports 2024/25. Hansi Flick's team will seek to strike a new blow on the table and maintain their undefeated status in the championship.

For their part, José Bordalás' team will seek to reverse their terrible start in the local competition and spring a surprise with what would be their first win in the tournament. Right now they occupy eighteenth position in the table with 4 points, accumulating four draws and two losses.

The team led by Hansi Flick is extremely depleted by injuries, but the physical wear and tear of the squad caused by the tight schedule forces the German to activate the 'rotation plan'. Below, we show you the possible formations of Barcelona and Getafe:

Probable lineups for Barcelona-Getafe in La Liga

  • Barcelona's starting XI: Iñaki Peña, Fort, Pau Cubarsí, Eric García, Balde; Casadó, Torre, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres y Lewandowski.
  • Getafe's starting XI: David Soria; Djené, Berrocal, Alderete, Diego Rico; Milla, Yellu, Uche; Álex Sola, Bertug y Carles Pérez.
  • Barcelona injured players: Andreas Christensen, Fermín López, Gavi, Ronald Araújo, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal, Dani Olmo, Marc-André Ter Stegen
  • Barcelona's sanctioned players: Ninguno.

Although the Madrid side is always a tough nut to crack, being a highly physical and defensive team, their poor form invites hope for a seventh consecutive victory. The Blaugranas could take to the Montjuïc pitch with a new starting XI, as they will arrive at the match with eight injured players. Below, we review all the positions in Barcelona's possible starting XI against Getafe.

Goal: Iñaki Peña

The young goalkeeper will be in charge of protecting the Blaugrana goal after the very serious injury suffered by Ter Stegen, which, a priori, will keep him out for the rest of the season. Last season, Peña replaced Marc-André in 17 matches and left a good impression, so against Getafe he will look to start his new role in the team on the right foot by keeping a clean sheet.

Defense: Fort-Cubarsí-Eric García-Balde

At Villarreal, Hansi Flick surprised everyone by giving Pau Cubarsí and Alejandro Balde a rest, who were replaced by Sergi Domínguez and Gerard Martín, respectively. Now, both players will return to the starting eleven and Jules Koundé and Iñigo Martínez will be the next to rotate, since, so far, they have played all the games of the season. In their place, Héctor Fort will cover the right side as a starter for the first time this season and Eric García will return to the centre of defence.

Midfield: Pablo Torre-Marc Casadó-Pedri

Marc Casadó will return to the centre of midfield after coming off the bench at La Cerámica. He will be accompanied by Pedri González, who had more than 30 minutes of rest at the 'groguet' ground, and Pablo Torre, who in his first start of the campaign 'went all out', scoring a goal and providing an assist to help the blaugranas achieve their sixth consecutive victory.

Attack: Lamine Yamal-Lewandowski-Ferran Torres

To date, the trident formed by Lamine Yamal, Lewandowski and Raphinha has played every game of the season since the start. For this reason, everything indicates that Hansi Flick could opt to add some variants to avoid greater physical wear and tear, with Ferran Torres being chosen to replace a Raphinha who has 'emptied himself' in recent games. On the bench, Ansu Fati would wait for his chance after enjoying some minutes in Monaco and going unnoticed in Villarreal.
