The second matchday of LaLiga EA Sports 2024-25 closed with a victory for Atlético de Madrid against Girona. Diego Simeone's team, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona all won their matches, but the Catalans are still better positioned in the standings
FC Barcelona finished matchday 2 of LaLiga in second place in the table, with Celta Vigo and Hansi Flick's team being the only ones with six points scored so far, but Claudo Giráldez's team is first on goal difference. Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid won 3-0 in their respective matches, while the Catalans triumphed 2-1 against Athletic Club de Bilbao.
If we talk about 'Cholo' Simeone's team, who closed matchday two, they beat Girona 3-0 with a great performance at the Metropolitano. Argentine Julián Álvarez made his debut as a starter at home, but it was Antoine Griezmann who opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a great goal from a free kick. In the 48th minute, the Frenchman assisted Marcos Llorente with a left-footed shot from mid-distance and Koke completed the rout in the 90+4 with a great counterattack play.
In the other matches on Sunday, Real Madrid beat Valladolid 3-0 with goals from Federico Valverde, Brahim Díaz and Endrick. The Brazilian scored his first goal for the Merengue team at the Bernabéu in extra time, while Kylian Mbappé was left without a goal for the second consecutive matchday.
