FC Barcelona achieved one of its biggest wins in LaLiga history (7-0) against Valladolid. The result against the team from Valladolid confirms the great form of Hansi Flick's team, undisputed leaders of the tournament

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona's 7-0 thrashing of Valladolid was one of the biggest thrashings by the Catalans in LaLiga history. Hansi Flick's men won thanks to goals from Raphinha (hat-trick), Robert Lewandowski, Jules Koundé, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres against a Pucelano side that offered no resistance at Montjuïc and ended up taking an indisputable thrashing. With the victory, Barça maintains their perfect run in the tournament, with full points after four games played and goes into the first international break of 2024/25 as leaders.

Barça emulates a result that it has not achieved since 2014 in LaLiga

For Barça, the rout against Valladolid emulates a result that the Catalans had not obtained since the 2016/17 season, Luis Enrique's last in charge. It was against Celtic in the Champions League opener (7-0), with a display by the 'MSN' at Camp Nou (a hat-trick from Leo Messi, two from Luis Suárez and one from Neymar Jr.). In the League, however, Barça had not scored seven goals for more than a decade, in 2013/14 against Osasuna (7-0). In that same season, the Catalans, led by Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, had dispatched Levante on matchday 1.

Two years earlier, in Vallecas, Pep Guardiola's team crushed Rayo in the final stretch of the 2011/12 (0-7). There was another thrashing at the start of the season, also against Osasuna (8-0 at Camp Nou). Barça also scored eight goals against Córdoba (in 14/15) and Deportivo (in 15/16), both away wins.

The beating of Hospitalet, the biggest in the last 15 years

For Barça, the biggest thrashing of the 21st century remains the 9-0 that the team then managed by Pep Guardiola inflicted on humble L'Hospitalet at Camp Nou, in December 2011. It was in the second leg of the fourth round of the 2011/12 Copa del Rey, a tournament that the Catalans would end up winning in the coach's farewell from Santpedor. That same season also saw the biggest Champions League thrashing, in the second leg of the round of 16 against Bayer Leverkusen (7-1), with a 'poker' from Leo Messi.

The result was repeated 34 years after the Catalans crushed Rayo at Camp Nou in the 1978/79 season (9-0). Previously, in 1951/52, the Blaugrana had also scored nine goals against Sporting at home (9-0) and against Real Oviedo in 1954 (also 9-0). However, the biggest win in favour of Barça in the history of LaLiga remains the 10-1 defeat against Nástic de Tarragona in Catalunya, on 11 September 1949.

Barça's biggest wins in La Liga history

  1. Barça 10-1 Nástic of Tarragona (season 1949/50)
  2. Barça 9-0 Sporting (season 1951/52)
  3. Barça 9-0 Real Oviedo (season 1954/55)

*The Barça has won by 8-0 in eleven opportunities in the tournament, the last to Deportivo La Coruña in the season 2015/16.
