FC Barcelona was unable to celebrate its 125 years of history with a victory. The unexpected 1-2 defeat against UD Las Palmas, in a very dull match for the Blaugranas, has set off all the alarm bells. The culé team has gone three consecutive days without winning in the league: "The main problem is that we have created opportunities and we have not taken advantage of them. We have had 70% possession and we have shot 27 times"
Despite this adverse streak of three days without winning, the German coach has stressed that he has "an excellent team" and trusts in the "quality" of his players to turn the situation around: "The team has quality and today you can't say that they didn't want to. They tried everything during the entire ninety minutes, to get a good result, but it wasn't possible."
"I believe in the players. I have confidence, but things are what they are. When I started I told them there would be no excuses"
With a lack of ideas and accuracy in front of goal, not even the return of Lamine Yamal has been able to change the team's poor dynamic in recent league games: "It's normal that some players when they return from injury are not at their best, but if we play as a team we should be able to beat any team, but if some players are disconnected the team does not work."
Flick has complained that the team is conceding more goals in recent games and considers that it is a collective problem: "I have missed the concretion in front of the opponent's goal to score. And the defense does not depend only on the last four, but it depends on everyone, as a block, and doing it as we have been doing since the beginning of the season. Everyone knows how we should do it, how we want to defend, and there should be no space for the opponent to play like that."
"We need to change, perhaps, one or two things. When you see Las Palmas' goals and how they scored... it's clear that we made mistakes, but I insist, it's not the fault of the back four, it starts up front."
Hansi Flick admitted that he expected more from the changes introduced in the second half and confessed that he hopes to be able to count on Dani Olmo for the next match of the League against Mallorca: "He continues to have some small problems and we did not want to take any risks."
The defeat against UD Las Palmas was Barça's last match in November. Therefore, they now have the opportunity to start December on the right foot. In reference to the next match of the Barça team, which will be on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Mallorca.
