Hansi Flick is already prepared for the 2024/25 season. The German coach and the squad learned first-hand this week about the new rules imposed by LaLiga, in two protocol meetings prior to the start of the campaign. In them, all the new features announced by the Technical Committee of Referees were presented, the most important being the dialogue between the captains and the referee, the semi-automatic offsides or the issue of grabs and hands.

Other issues that were discussed were the invasion of players in the area during the taking of a penalty (which will only be repeated if a player enters the area before the shot), the additional substitution in case a player suffers a concussion or that only a maximum of five players will be able to do warm-up exercises on the touchline.

Hansi Flick is now familiar with the rules of LaLiga

The new FC Barcelona coach was present at a meeting with the other coaches from the First Division and Second Division to learn about the new rules of LaLiga, especially regarding referees, since the strictness of the rules is different in each country. Several members of the Blaugrana staff accompanied Flick at a meeting held this Wednesday with the referee from the region, Víctor García Verdura.

This was a meeting organised via the web by the CTA in coordination with the Coaches Committee. The president of the RFEF Coaches Committee, David Gutiérrez, was present at the meeting; the director of the RFEF Training Area, Pep Sansó; and the secretary of the Coaches Committee. The only one who did not attend was Carlo Ancelotti, because he is in Warsaw preparing for the European Super Cup final. A second meeting is scheduled for 3 September, this time in person. It will take place at the Ciudad del Fútbol and it is expected that the coaches will be able to give their opinions on what happens in the first few days of LaLiga.

The Barcelona squad met with referee García Verdura

This Wednesday, August 14, the Committee meeting with the players was also held. This was led by referee Víctor García Verdura, who has discussed the aforementioned regulations with the coaches with the entire squad. The change in the regulations is important because there are many modifications that can affect the result of many matches.

One of the most important is that from the 2024/25 season, only the team captain will be able to communicate with the referee regarding possible sanctions or disagreements on the field of play. We already saw this in the Eurocup, where it had a fairly positive result, so it will be interesting how it develops in LaLiga. The players will have the opportunity to test these rules on Saturday, August 17 in the league debut against Valencia at Mestalla.
